We’re proud to host Jade and Nia as part of this year’s outstanding cohort of SCORE students!

The Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SCORE) brings talented undergraduates from diverse backgrounds to conduct cutting-edge research at the University of Oregon. Jade and Nia (second and third from left in photo) exemplify the excellence and enthusiasm that SCORE students bring to our research community.

About SCORE

The SCORE program: - Provides intensive research experiences - Supports students from underrepresented backgrounds - Offers professional development opportunities - Builds pathways to graduate education - Strengthens diversity in STEM fields

Research Excellence

Jade and Nia are conducting research on: - Population genomics of adaptation - Laboratory techniques in molecular biology - Bioinformatic analysis pipelines - Scientific communication skills - Collaborative research practices

Jade’s Project

Jade is investigating: - Genomic variation in natural populations - Environmental drivers of adaptation - Data analysis using R and Python - Integration of field and laboratory approaches - Presentation of scientific findings

Nia’s Research

Nia is exploring: - Host-microbiome interactions - Molecular techniques for microbiome analysis - Developmental biology approaches - Statistical analysis of complex datasets - Science communication strategies
