Evolution 2016 - Austin, Texas
At the joint Evolution meeting, our students and postdocs received recognition for their outstanding research presentations:
- Clayton Small - Best Student Poster Award for work on host-microbiome interactions
 - Emily Beck - SSE President’s Award for talk on mitochondrial evolution
 - Mark Currey - Honorable Mention for population genomics presentation

The Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution conference also recognized our lab’s contributions:
- Hannah Healey - Best Student Talk on single-cell sequencing methods
 - Martin Stervander - Best Postdoc Poster for syngnathid comparative genomics
 - Susan Bassham - Excellence in Mentoring Award

Growing Recognition
These awards reflect the lab’s strength across multiple research areas - from microbiome evolution to genomic methods development. The diversity of recognized projects demonstrates our integrated approach to evolutionary biology.
Congratulations to all award winners! Your hard work and innovative research continues to push the boundaries of evolutionary genomics.
Special thanks to NSF, NIH, and the University of Oregon for travel support enabling our participation in these important conferences.
